Mosque and institutional commissions. At this length the strand stops being a personal object and becomes a fixture, and almost everything about how it is built has to change.

What changes at this length
Cord becomes structural. Five hundred beads at 12 mm is several kilograms hanging on a single line, and a cord specification adequate for a 99-bead strand is not adequate here. We specify and test the cord against the finished weight rather than against the bead count.
Material reservation stops being good practice and becomes the only way the commission is possible. A colour drift that would be invisible across 33 beads is unmissable across 500, so the entire run comes from one reserved batch and is produced in a single continuous pass.
How these are quoted
Per commission, because nothing about them is standard. We will want to know where the piece will hang, whether it will be handled, and what the ambient conditions are — amber in a hot, dry hall behaves differently from amber in a case.
The photographs on this site include long-count strands from our own production. They are the honest reference for what this looks like before a commission is committed.
What buyers ask about this
Yes, built to order from a single reserved material batch in one continuous run.
Against the finished weight rather than the bead count, and tested before assembly.
Quoted per commission. Material reservation, not machining, usually sets the timeline.
The rest of the bead counts
