مسطح
A compressed disc profile. Sits flat against the palm and gives a distinctly modern read on a traditional object.
- Standard sizes
- 12×8 · 14×9 mm
- Aspect ratio
- 0.68 : 1
- Production note
- Popular for wrist-worn 33-bead compositions.
- Available in
- All nine amber varieties
- Minimum order
- 100 pieces per specification
Custom dimensions are routine. If the profile you need is not in the library we tool for it, proof it against a physical prototype, and archive it under your account so it is never produced for anyone else.
Amber weight, by diameter
Integrated from this profile’s own geometry at 1.08 g/cm³, beads only. Amber is traded by weight, so this is the figure that turns a specification into a price.

A stack rather than a rope
At 0.68 times its diameter the flat is the only profile here that is wider than it is tall. A strand of them reads as a stack of discs rather than a rope of beads, which is a genuinely different object and the reason the profile exists.
It also changes the loop. Because each bead occupies so little length, a given count produces a much shorter strand than any other profile — a 99-bead flat strand is roughly half the length of a 99-bead olive strand at the same diameter. That is worth calculating rather than assuming.
Tight curvature at low counts
A short bead on a short loop means the strand curves sharply, and at 33 beads a flat strand is a small, tight ring. Some markets want exactly that — it is the closest thing in the range to a wrist piece — but it is not what a buyer expecting a conventional silhouette has in mind.
We would send a physical sample before this profile is committed at any volume, because the difference between the drawing and the object is larger here than anywhere else in the range.
The lightest option
A flat bead carries roughly half the amber of a barrel at the same nominal diameter, which makes it the least expensive way to reach a given visual width. Where a brief calls for a wide bead at a keen price, this is the honest route to it — rather than a wide bead in thinner material or a shortened polish.
As a separator rather than a strand
The flat profile has a second life that is easy to overlook: it is the natural separator on a strand of any other shape. A disc between every eleventh bead marks the composition without interrupting it, and because it is cut from the same reserved batch it reads as part of the object rather than as hardware.
For programmes that want a subtle mark of quality without added cost, this is one of the cheapest levers available — the material is already reserved, the tooling already exists, and the result is a strand that looks considered rather than simply strung. We use flat discs as separators across most of our own collection for exactly that reason.
Questions about this profile
Yes, and it is one of the cheapest ways to make a strand look considered. Cut from the same reserved batch they read as part of the object rather than as hardware, and the tooling already exists.

Much shorter. Each bead occupies little length, so a 99-bead flat strand is roughly half the length of a 99-bead olive strand at the same diameter.
Per bead, yes — roughly half the amber of a barrel at the same nominal diameter. It is the honest way to reach a wide bead at a keen price.
Yes, more than with any other profile. The difference between the drawing and the object is largest here.
