Deeper and warmer than honey, and the tone that dominates wherever the Gulf preference does not. Türkiye, the Balkans and the Maghreb all reach for this first.

A different market, not a darker honey
Sending a Gulf assortment to Istanbul or Casablanca and wondering why it sits is the most common avoidable mistake in this trade. Cognac at 33 or 66 beads in an olive profile is a coherent product for those markets; honey at 99 beads in a classic profile is a coherent product for a different one.
The distinction is worth holding because it changes tooling and material planning, not just the catalogue photograph.
What deeper tones forgive and what they do not
Deeper material hides minor internal irregularity, which is why it is often the cheaper grade to produce at a given clarity standard. It does not hide geometry: a bead sitting proud of its neighbours is if anything more visible against a dark strand, because the highlight along the top of the run breaks.
So the polish specification does not relax with the tone. The nine stages run the same way.
What buyers ask about this
Türkiye, the Balkans and the Maghreb predominantly — Morocco, Algeria and Libya.
Usually, because deeper material is more available and hides minor internal irregularity. The polishing specification does not change.
Olive and barrel, which is what those markets ask for alongside the tone.
