Amber Misbaha for Lebanon

لبنان

Lebanon retains one of the most sophisticated luxury retail cultures in the region and one of the most difficult banking environments. Both facts have to be designed around, and pretending otherwise wastes a buyer’s time.

Taste here runs to restraint: transparent and pale honey amber, finer diameters, silver rather than gold furniture, and packaging that would not look out of place in a Paris boutique. Volumes are modest; expectations are not.

Terms, stated honestly

Since 2019 the domestic banking system cannot be relied on for documentary credit, and any supplier telling you otherwise has not tried. Our Lebanese business settles by transfer from an account outside the country or by transfer in freely transferable funds. We would rather agree that in the first conversation than discover it at production release.

Small runs, high specification

The rational entry here is a small, exact first run rather than a volume commitment — a hundred pieces built to a boutique standard will tell you more about the market than a thousand built to a price. Our MOQ is set low enough to make that a real option.

Diaspora gifting

A meaningful share of Lebanese demand is not consumed in Lebanon. Programmes aimed at the diaspora in the Gulf, West Africa, Brazil and France need packaging that survives hand-carry and documentation that survives a customs desk. We build for that where it is the stated use.

Why a small first run is the right strategy here

Not because the market is small, but because it is volatile and taste is exacting. A hundred pieces built to a boutique standard will tell you more about Beirut than a thousand built to a price, and it exposes far less capital to a currency and banking environment nobody can forecast. Our minimum exists to make that a genuine option rather than a courtesy, and Lebanon is the market where we recommend it most often.

Retail presentation expectations

Beirut retail is closer in register to Paris than to the Gulf. Restrained packaging, silver over gold, and copy that informs rather than sells. A box that would read as considered in Dubai frequently reads as overdone here, which is one of the rare cases where the cheaper packaging is also the correct one.

The diaspora is the larger market

More Lebanese purchasing power sits outside Lebanon than inside it, across the Gulf, West Africa, Brazil and France. Programmes aimed there need packaging that survives hand-carry and documentation that clears a third-country customs desk. Where a buyer serves both, we build one specification with two packaging treatments rather than two programmes.

Questions

Supplying Lebanon

By transfer from an account outside Lebanon, or in freely transferable funds. We do not ask a client to attempt a domestic letter of credit.

Our standard minimum applies, and for Lebanon it is usually the right choice — a small exact run rather than a volume commitment made before the market has answered.

Yes, including packaging designed for hand-carry and documentation intended to clear a third-country customs desk.

Taste is exacting and the environment is volatile. A hundred pieces at a boutique standard tells you more than a thousand at a price, and exposes far less capital.

More restrained. Beirut reads closer to Paris — silver over gold, informative copy, less ornament. It is one of the rare cases where cheaper packaging is also correct.
